This fantastic butterfly is one of our most widespread - The Common Blue is the most widespread blue butterfly in Britain and Ireland and is found in a variety of grassy habitats all over the British Isles. . Common he may be, but stunning he certainly is.
It is a butterfly I have captured every year since I picked up a camera, but I always try and capture something a little bit different each time.
The first shot at the top of the page was focused at giving the butterfly something behind it to add depth to the shot - most of my macro work is much closer up than this so it was a bit different than normal
The next image is one of my first captures of this stunning insect and one that was my first feature on viewbug - being a featured image in their online store...its an image I am really proud of and one that still holds up from my early collection.
As you can see it really is a superb butterfly to capture - but next year I have another target as I have exhausted the common blue, but I will be trying to capture some of the even smaller Brown Argus...its eluded me all these years - having only ever managed one blurry shot of it previously.
