Brody Bunch Xmas party
I was really pleased to be invited to a Christmas gathering by Brody Swain and Magic Liz, for all the Brody Bunch who had been on in the year. For those who don't know, the Brody bunch is a chance to go on BBC Coventry & Warwickshire and talk about the news topics of the day...mostly light hearted but sometimes, inevitably, the difficult topics arise.
I first did this back when Trish Adudu was on the afternoon show, called the Chit Chat Club....and have been on ever since. Its something I really enjoy, and often wonder given how much I love to talk whether I should do a radio show of my own. Something to look into in 2018 perhaps.
Anyway, I digress slightly. because I had the bonus of an hour to use between finishing work and the party starting. So what else could I do but grab the camera and head off around the city centre to see what I could capture.
Having parked by the council house I got the tripod setup ready to take a few long exposure shots - but the tripod got jammed and wouldn't fold back upwards. Cue me smashing it with me arm, then knee, then trying to hit it off the nearest brick wall to force the legs back up. Then I heard a voice behind me, "you ok there son" so I turned around to see a policeman looking at me wondering what on earth I was doing. Started laughing and said I must look like Basil Fawlty here with tripod rage. After a very funny conversation, wished each other a merry Xmas and I wandered off towards millennium place where I had been told there was a funfair present.
Once I got there I had to wait around for the rides to fill up and get going but managed to get a few great long exposures of them something I love to capture....lights at night are definitely a real favourite of mine.
Then it was time to walk back up to the BBC Cov&Warks studios to go and see everyone for the party - it was great to see the studio packed full of people, a lot of whom I knew and had been on the show with and a lot who I had not. Hopefully 2018 I will get to meet some new Brody Bunchers. It was a lovely evening full of laughter and an amazing magic card trick by Magic Liz, Brodys presenter. Still utterly baffled how she did it...very impressed indeed.
That is my last story behind post this year, I will start again in the new year, I would like to thank each and every one of you who has supported me through the year by sharing my stuff, buying my prints and being such great people to know.
