Elle and the pocket belles
Way back in late summer 2013 I had gone to to a massive event across near Northampton - Pistons N Props - with so many planes and cars lined up to capture all day.
You can read more about that side of things on an earlier blog post here - but between the massive array of planes and cars I wanted to capture, I decided I needed a bit of a break from it all, some food and a drink to keep the energy levels up for the rest of the day.
I could hear lots going on towards the front of the venue so thought that would be the best place to head for, slung the camera over the shoulder and just followed the sounds and food smells to where I needed to be.
After grabbing a burger and some pop I headed into the nearest music tent and stumbled across this amazing vintage swing act performing - so propped myself up on a frame near the front of the stage and just listened whilst eating. The lead singer being all in red was quite eye catching against the backing singers, so between bites of burger I knew I had to capture a few photos.
It was the first time I had ever captured a live act - and whilst the photos are nothing special they are something I am happy with, and made me realise I would like to get the chance to capture some more live music acts - done right I think they can make fantastically emotive photos, so hopefully next year I will make it my aim to do that, seeking out some local music venues and getting that raw emotion and vibe conveyed in my photo.
